You’re a Bit Unconventional. So Are We.

Hey there rebels!
We’re glad you’re here!
If you care about helping your teens to think critically, dive deep into their passions, and grow into capable, decent humans ready to function in the real world, you’re definitely in the right place!
Homeschool Rebel provides resources to help you educate your kids in a way that makes sense for the world we actually live in. Because in the real world, nobody cares if your kid can write a 5 paragraph essay. But being able to think critically and creatively? That’s never been more important.
From our slightly irreverent newsletter full of refreshingly honest insight, to unit studies on niche topics teens actually care about (and that you won’t find anywhere else), to courses for parents to help you grow into the best, most fascinating version of yourself, we’re developing a collection of resources that teach essential, relevant skills and concepts that are absolutely essential to be successful in today’s world.

You’re definitely a rebel if:
- One-size-fits-all curriculum solutions do not, in fact, fit
- You’re looking for secular, inclusive, forward-thinking homeschool resources that will challenge your kids to take ownership of their learning
- You want to build your homeschool around interest-led learning that uses what your kids want to know to teach them what they need to know
- You want to be able to send your kids out into the world confident that they won’t crash and burn
- You want reality-based support from someone who’s been there–not just another inspirational quote
- You want to be an awesome, multifaceted adult whose identity is way more than just “homeschool mom”
And who’s the crazy rebel behind all this?
Hi, I’m Ashley!

I’m an educator, writer, and founder of Homeschool Rebel. I started this company after spending more than a decade (and counting) homeschooling my own three kids (my oldest graduated this year!) and struggling to find interest-led, secular resources specifically for older kids that focus on developing the skills they’ll actually need to function in the real world and face an increasingly unpredictable future.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the difference between success and failure in this crazy world we’re living in comes down to being able to think critically, express yourself creatively, and adapt as circumstances change. That’s what real education should be about, and that’s what we focus on here.

While I like to pretend we live in a treehouse in the jungle somewhere, swinging on vines and hanging out with gorillas, in real life we live on the actual face of the sun–AKA the California high desert–with four dogs, two cats, one snake, and a small flock of chickens whose leader I affectionately refer to as “clever girl.” She has a tendency to escape and eat things she shouldn’t.
Like most homeschoolers, our life is often chaotic, but I can confidently say that no matter how many times I’ve questioned my sanity, or how much I still hate math, homeschooling has been the best decision not just for our family but for myself. It’s forced me to continue to challenge myself to never stop growing, and to never stop questioning. And letting your kids see you challenge yourself to learn and grow and question right alongside them every day is probably the greatest gift you could ever give them.
Whether you’re just thinking about homeschooling and wondering if it’s right for you, or you’ve been in the trenches for years and are looking for a fresh perspective, we created all of this for you, and we’ll be here every step of the way to help you homeschool like the rebel badass you are.
